Big Buddy

Submitted by Hadyn on Tuesday, 15 Jul 2008.

Remember that Simpsons episode where Bart signs up for the Bigger Brother program and Homer does the same and hilarity ensues?

Well the Big Buddy Mentoring Trust is the same thing (except perhaps without the fist-fight at Sea World):

We’re a charitable trust and have just opened a Wellington office after 11 years of successful operation in Auckland. In a nutshell, we match male volunteers from the community with boys aged 7-12 who don’t have a father or significant male role model in their lives.

They wrote and asked us: Any chance of a post encouraging local "good men" to step forward and be the difference in a young boy’s life?

Fantastic. "I love you Pepsi".

Thanks for your support Haydn and team. The program already has nearly 20 local guys who have "stepped forward" to be the difference in a boy's life and we're always looking for more. Mum's are welcome to get in touch with us too if they have a son they think will benefit. Once again, many thanks.
