The Fringe Bar is for Laffs

Formerly known as the Blue Note, the Fringe Bar is fast becoming the place to see comedy in Wellington. The bar presents a variety of comedy shows three days a week, including stand-up, sketch and improv. The best comics from Wellington, New Zealand and beyond are coming to the Fringe Bar to perform their shows.

The Fringe Bar is ramping up for a busy but friggin' awesome run of shows during the 2010 Fringe Festival. Here's the flyer with more information about each show.

Here's what's on:

  • Raybon Kan - International Vegetable of the Arts
    Now that we all agree completely on religion, climate, sex and human rights, Raybon Kan tiptoes fearlessly around one final teensy area of mind disagreement. Contains truth and immature themes.
  • James Nokise - Nokise Getting It Up
    Not the end of the world but New Zealand's greatest geek fest! James Nokise - with special guests - guide you through the only convention where you can see a child fight a midget and possibly form Voltron. A show for casual and hardcore fans alike.
  • The Comediettes - Better Living
    The Comediettes second show offers another escapade of hilarity with BONUS handy hints. Fresh, twisted stand-up - plus epic ballads. Featuring award-winning comedians Sarah Harpur and Jim Stanton.
  • Little Moustache - Laugh Experiences
    Scintillating stand-up with a splash of sketch! A trio of rib-ticklers take the town in a comedy show that will leave you ROTFLing. Don't worry, that's a good thing. Danni Taylor, Chelsea Hughes and Nat Britten from Little Moustache and bring you Laugh Experiences.
  • Wannabe
    Still a tween at heart? A chatter-rings pro? Rediscover Girl Power (and other superpowers) through the eyes of a Nintendo generation male in this new solo show.
  • Ben Hur the Epic
    Romans! Chariots! Leppers! Oh My! The biggest epic of all time recreated by 3 idiots in 70 minutes. Your ticket price is more than the entire budget! Come see failure on an epic scale!
  • WIT - Micetro Improv
    Find Wellington's quickest WIT! Crash and burn elimination style improv where you decide who makes it to the finals in April!
  • Comedy Unplugged
    A fresh season of comedy is ready to be picked and served up for those wanting the first juicy bite! Comedy Unplugged is your chance to sample the new fruits of the upcoming NZ International Comedy Festival. Every Monday during the NZ Fringe Festival, 4 comedians try out new gags, new characters and new show concepts. Get it fresh!
