I have to say I'm not impressed, having just some back from the door opening.

There are no real opening specials.

And although it doesn't seem fully stocked yet, there's no revelations in the areas I'm interested in. Sure, there's a few of those American format (pulp) SF titles that otherwise you pay the full UK whack for; but other than that: well, the computing section is just lame; the music and CDs aren't very comprehensive (although the listening posts are quality - drowning out the droning of the Govt. renta-a-minister's opening speech with Nick's Cave's Grinderman was pretty good).

The lit section could do with a bit of filling out (although there are three editions of Ulysses, there are none of Finnegan's Wake - does that still count?) and I nearly bought a copy of Orwell's Homage to Catalonia but held out on the basis of price. Really though, there seems little that can't be had elsewhere in town.

Still, worth a look. But at this point the indies have little to fear from what is, at the moment, an even bigger Whitcoulls.
