Do you like to drink and/or network?

Submitted by Joanna on Sunday, 27 Apr 2008.

Recently the Wellingtonista were sent an email from "Dave, Designer fella in Wellington" enquiring whether we thought that Wellingtonian Creative Web Design Folk might fancy the opportunity to meet up monthly; to drink, discuss related stuff and network.

Our response was:
"Web people getting together to drink (and talk geek), you have to ask?"

But we thought we'd ask you anyway. We do appreciate that there are many sorts of sub committees that happen organically, but they're all sub styles. So how about it, Web Creative folk? Leave your comments and thoughts here for Dave to collect. And please feel free to contribute ideas for venues and sponsorship while you're at it.

Myself and Brenda are getting together a number of groups in Wellington so that you can see what's going on.

It's over at: http://wellington.geek.nz/

Unfortunately, we need people to manage the groups (ie. putting in events) so if you're interested, drop me a line.

the coder hackers of wellington, who can't put down their keyboards on the weekend, are already boozing and using their commit bits once a month at super happy dev house
http://superhappydevhouse.org.nz

The creatives are very welcome to join us for milkshakes and cookies at the cross, 1st monday of each month. We start about 1pm.

The May edition is sunday 4th may, and there will be OLPCS (One Laptop Per Child) - an ambitious project to give every child in the developing world their own laptop. Creatives helping the project are very much needed.

Ooooh creatives and coders in the same room at the same time? I'm sensing a Jets vs. Sharks finger-clicking battle coming on...
