Sevens Fever Grips City!!!
Do you have it? These guys do.
Seen outside Arizona this morning and sent in by a concerned Wellingtonista reader.
But even in their uni-thongs these guys have nothing on the guys diving naked into the harbour by the boatshed (no photos available, sorry ladies).
On my walk to Rawhide (see below) I saw:
- six groups of pirates
- more than a dozen netball teams
- fake construction workers
- real construction workers perving at…
- female police officers in short skirts
- no real police officers
- four groups of monks
- some mad scientists
- hundreds of drunk old men in matching Hawaiian shirts
So what's your favourite Sevens' costume team? Because we all know it's not about the rugby.
Ps. Check out Mike's photos for some good costume picks (I love the Moses.)
and already the 7s photos are starting to populate the wellington flickr photoblog over on the right hand side there.
expect many more...
Ha ha ha ha ... so far I've seen:
- Men in nappies
- Too many doctors and nurses
- Oodles of cowboys and indians
- Loads of big wigs
- Tight, black, short and leather ... with whips
- Sperm drinking beer
- Painted faces to scare the horses
- Short skirts, tight shorts and topless ... mostly guys
- Mexicans
- PEOPLE HAVING GREAT FUN!
But the best thing I've seen is TVNZ being streamed over the Web - almost TV quality - which means I can sit here at work (on Queens Wharf, can you imagine how distracting this afternoon has been!?!) and watch the games!

I saw Duffman walking through Dukes Arcade yesterday. He was thrusting away from the problem. I laughed.

Aargh! NSFW, NSFW!
Having said that, that exact same photo has already circulated around work, so that "concerned reader" has been busy. I saw them at lunchtime, too and it took a while to realise that they're wearing flesh-coloured tights. *Shudder*
I almost complemented a group of guys in white sailor suits on their realistic costumes, but then I realised that they were real sailors. Who'da thunk it?
