Trav-ellingtonista: Sacred
For those Wellingtonistas who might be coming to London sometime in the near future. I can recommend the Sacred Cafe. It's owned by a kiwi, it has good coffee (which is rare in London) and free wifi.
I currently posting LIVE from Sacred, listening to a selecion of Wellington Dub/Soul and enjoying their latest art exhibition, Pasifika Styles.
To get there: Just off Carnaby St in Soho.
cheers AL, but my host doesn't support mod_rewrite.
the URL alias on the querystring is the next best thing, and works surprisingly well for picking up google hits.
That's an interesting reason your webhost provided. Can't they move you to another shared server? Does it run CPanel?
well, having been spurred on by yourself, I requested they reinstate the mod_rewrite module for those that might want it, and to identify and admonish those webmasters whose poor rewrite rules are ruining it for the rest of us, and, weirdly enough, they agreed. So, once I find a few spare minutes, Clean URLs they shall be.
cheers AL.
Completely on-topic: it might be too late, but another brilliant NZ-owd/run cafe in London is Flat White. No 17 Berwick St, in Soho.
I think Flat White coffee is a bit so so. The atmosphere there is similar to a NZ cafe but the coffee is very variable as they always seem to be in a rush, plus they take ages to serve you.
Flat White source their beans from Monmouth coffee who are better if you want a reliably good coffee, though it's difficult to get a seat in their Covent Garden shop as it's so tiny -- better for takeaway. A dbl espresso's only 60p.
