A bit slow on the up take but my excuse is, I haven’t had enough coffee. Yes I’m aware that was lazy. But I blame my lack of coffee. Never mind.
Day one of the NZ Barista Champs 2013 has already flown by at the Michael Fowler Centre
There’s still two days left of hot milk and espresso competition.
Saturday being the day of semi-finals, finals and the glorious moment where a Barista from somewhere in New Zealand is claimed Champion and heads to Melbourne for the World Championship.
Competition is fierce with every contestant having to produce a cappuccino an espresso AND a signature beverage that brings out the best in their bean.
On Thursday Wellington had 6 competitors strutting their stuff. Long Nguyen and Addison Dale (Caffe L’affare), Nick Clark (Flight Coffee), River Vili (Cafe Polo), and Tim Norris and Hadassah Green (Coffee Supreme). On Friday Alan Bruce and Tait Burge (Mojo Coffee) will be trying to impress the judges.
Wellington loves coffee and without these guys coffee here would probably consist of Greggs Espresso Roast and Orange Mocha Frappes.
Take 5 minutes and check out how much time and thought goes into putting that magical elixir in your cup every morning.
