And we will party on, thanks to you
The front page story on the Dominion Post is Party on, says dying Il Casino Boss, and all media grumbles about the horrible exploitative nature of that stupid newspaper aside, the Wellingtonista is really upset to hear that Remiro Bresolin has terminal cancer. Readers will surely know how dear to our hearts Il Casino, Scopa and Boulot are, so our thoughts and well wishes are with the family.
I remember reading about the Il Casino renovations when he was like "well I could just knock it down and build apartments but I believe it's important to save old buildings". Nicely played, sir.
Yes, well played: though if you've peered through the windows and seen empty sky behind them, then it's clear that it's more of a rebuild than a refit. I just hope that if they have to sell it, the new owners have as much of a sense of what "hospitality" really means.
Tom, if you won't run for council, maybe you should set up a restaurant instead? I'm sure you can borrow from the Wellingtonista's petty cash box...
The only way he could've been cooler would've been to add "Be excellent to each other".
Will his contribution to this city be wiped away when the business is sold? Hopefully the family can keep it.
Actually, worrying news. There's an ad on page C3 of yesterday's Dom:
The 'Il Casino' buildings'
106-112 Tory Street
Corner Jessie StreetCircumstance allow opportunity of purchase of the site for continued refurbishment, or alternatively, for maximum redevelopment.
I think we all know what "maximum redevelopment" means. Shudder.
I note that the public tender closes on the 22nd of August. I'm not sure what the Wellingtonista's petty cash box is like, but that's just before my birthday. Just a hint.
"...I'm not sure what the Wellingtonista's petty cash box is like..."
Man, if only we hadn't splurged on that helicopter.
and the monkey.
Hey, that monkey has come in damn handy many times Martha, and you know that. He definitely pulls more than his own weight and was a fitting replacement for Jessie...

You beat me to it, Jo. Wellington would be a much duller, hungrier and thirstier place if it hadn't been for the efforts of Remiro and the whole Bresolin family.
