Well ok it’s already started, but Wellington is making a giant leap forward in celebrating all things you can make by hand this Queens birthday weekend at HANDMADE 2011.

Yes it’s a bold statement but when an event takes over Te Papa and the area around it you know it’s not just for a lark. Over the entire weekend you can attend workshops ranging from Meat Mastery to soft electronics. Or chill out and go behind the scenes at places like Voon, or watch Zibibbo’s head chef and owner Adam Newell cook with fresh herbs grown on the restaurant rooftop.

Plus all day long you can hang out in the Holland Road knit lounge where you can bring along your mistakes, curly questions and get advice and tips! The lovely Tash and her clever crew from of Holland Road Yarn Company will be on hand to supply yarn, needles and patterns when you visit.

The Beauty of HANDMADE is that you can attend a single class or lecture or grab a weekend pass and fill your weekend.
