Five of Welling­tons finest Baris­ta’s have made it through to the Semi-finals in the NZ Barista Cham­pi­onship 2013, being held tomor­row at the Michael Fowler Cen­tre.

A bit slow on the up take but my excuse is, I haven’t had enough cof­fee. Yes I’m aware that was lazy. But I blame my lack of cof­fee. Nev­er mind.

Day one of the NZ Barista Champs 2013 has already flown by at the Michael Fowler Cen­tre

There’s still two days left of hot milk and espres­so com­pe­ti­tion.

Sat­ur­day being the day of semi-finals, finals and the glo­ri­ous moment where a Barista from some­where in New Zealand is claimed Cham­pi­on and heads to Mel­bourne for the World Cham­pi­onship.

Com­pe­ti­tion is fierce with every con­tes­tant hav­ing to pro­duce a cap­puc­ci­no an espres­so AND a sig­na­ture bev­er­age that brings out the best in their bean.

On Thurs­day Welling­ton had 6 com­peti­tors strut­ting their stuff. Long Nguyen and Addi­son Dale (Caffe L’affare), Nick Clark (Flight Cof­fee), Riv­er Vili (Cafe Polo), and Tim Nor­ris and Hadas­sah Green (Cof­fee Supreme). On Fri­day Alan Bruce and Tait Burge (Mojo Cof­fee) will be try­ing to impress the judges.

Welling­ton loves cof­fee and with­out these guys cof­fee here would prob­a­bly con­sist of Greg­gs Espres­so Roast and Orange Mocha Frappes.
