Mandatory: Still Wellington’s best local menswear emporium after all these years, Mandatory continues to deliver fresh yet classic clothes with a dash of imagination. 

Miss Demeanour: Maintaining a splash of streetwise gothy attitude amidst a gentrifying Cuba Street, Miss Demeanour actually caters for a wider range than one might think. The Workshy T-shirt range sparks local debates with its Wellington-specific slogans, from the infamous "Newtown: It’s a bit shit" to "Thorndon: Looking down on Wellington since 1840".  

pixel inkPixel Ink Fashion: A Newtown favourite, Pixel Ink Gallery branched out into Cuba Street earlier this year with a fashion boutique. Since then it’s always a delight to pop in and see what new outwear is in store. Plus there are rumours that the back space might be expanded into a tiny gallery area in 2010. 

Madame Fancy Pants: The one and only fancy songbird Claire Terry brings the classy cute to Cuba with slippery silk, delightful present sized goodies, investment piece handbags and of course her own often imitated, never beaten range of jewellery. She manages to find time to be a truly charming and gusty chanteuse to boot. Kia ora, Madame. Kia ora. 

Swonderful: This mother and daughter run venture has been thriving since its move from Brooklyn to Victoria Street in central Welly. Stocked with cute frocks and other super girly clothes, Swonderful has their very own label, Papercup, to show off as well. They also have plenty of jewellery, stationery and the odd zine to fossick through.
