Didja feel that one?

Well, did you?

More info once every other man and his dog stops hammering the GeoNet website.

Update. Well, there ya go: a 4.8 shake, focal point 50km deep, 30km west of Porirua, out in Cook Strait. A decent rattle.

(And if you did feel it, report your experience here. Do your bit for science.)

Ha! I was one of those men (though I don't have a dog). Apparently our building "dropped" then shook. I only got the shake.

I felt it and ran for the doorway. My flatmate on the toilet did not. Bastard.

Weird! We were standing in the staff room looking at the fish in the tank and we all felt a thud but no one said anything. Then I looked behind me and the lady next to me said "you felt that too but didn't want to say?" and my friend agreed and she said it was an earthquake and I said "No it wasn't, don't be stupid" and secretly thought "Shame if it was, I'll look like a total fuckwit".

well then. DAMN YOU SCIENCE FOR PROVING ME A FUCKWIT!!!
