The frame for this improvised show is: experienced improvisors Jennifer O’Sullivan and Matt Powell are joined on stage by a mystery guest. (They really have no idea who the guest is.) Once the guest arrives (on opening night it was Jonny Paul)  the audience will provide a word which will be the inspiration for the show.

It’s so enjoyable to watch talented improvisors play on stage. Improv is about picking up the offers that other players lay down which is why sometimes a perfectly regular Antarctica travel scene can suddenly turn into a terrible epidemic where people are first bitten by penguins and then turn into penguins themselves only to bite other people etc etc. Not everything is this fanciful. It can be poignant. Very often it’s funny because improvisors like to make the audience (and each other) laugh. This group were attuned to each others entrances and exits meaning that the flow of the scenes seemed natural and it was very rare that someone talked over someone else. Good fun.

Christine Brooks selects the guest, Sam Tippett is in charge of keeping them mysterious, Matt Hutton provides musical accompaniment and Chris was on lights.

Maybe don’t be late to this one eh?
