A 2017 Raw Com­edy Quest nation­al final­ist, crit­ic­ally acclaimed play­wright, and dia­gnosed depress­ive, Uth­er has writ­ten for Power Rangers, Short­land Street and Radio New Zea­l­and. This time, he’s turn­ing his sim­ul­tan­eously ana­lyt­ic­al and hil­ari­ous eye inwards. From eat­ing your feel­ings to feel­ing your eat­ings, this deli­ciously dark hour of stand-up lets it all hang out as Dean cov­ers every stretch mark on the mod­ern body and mind.

“I wanted to make my fun­ni­est show about the least funny bits of my life,” Dean says. “When I’m at my low­est, the worst part is that my brain is telling me that I am the only per­son feel­ing this way. That I am alone. Com­edy is the solu­tion to that. You nev­er feel more con­nec­ted to oth­er people than when you’re laugh­ing with them. I want this show to make people feel more togeth­er, I want people to feel less alone. It may be com­edy but I’m doing it for a ser­i­ous and charm­ingly earn­est reas­on.”
