With its largest ever pro­gramme, the Show Me Shorts Film Fest­iv­al opens at cinemas across Aotearoa from the 5th of Octo­ber.

With sixty short films and three music videos – all chosen from a record 2040 entries – this fest­iv­al is sure to be one to remem­ber.

Eight Kiwi films will be mak­ing their word premiere dur­ing this fest­iv­al, and there are over thirty New Zea­l­and premi­eres of inter­na­tion­al films in this year’s pro­gramme as well. A total of twenty-two coun­tries will be rep­res­en­ted on screen this year, from the loc­al to the wide­spread, as well as a vari­ety of wide and diverse cre­at­ors.

As an Oscar-accred­ited film fest­iv­al, the win­ners of the top two awards, Depart­ment of Post Best New Zea­l­and Film and Best Inter­na­tion­al Film, will be qual­i­fied to enter the Academy Awards.

The open­ing night of the Fest­iv­al will be at the Embassy Theatre in Wel­ling­ton Cent­ral on the 11th of Octo­ber at 8pm. Grab your tick­ets for $25 from Event­brite (all tick­ets come with a glass of wine). This is the only night when all the award-win­ning films from the Fest­iv­al will be screened, so be sure to get amongst!

Dur­ing the Fest­iv­al, the films will be screen­ing in Wel­ling­ton at Light House Cuba, and Shoreline Waik­an­ae.
