About 50 minutes drive North of Wellin­gon on State High­way 1, is the turnoff to Te Horo beach. On the corner on your left, is Hyde Park, a small craft & cafe com­plex that boasts an excel­lent brunch & cof­fee. And an adjoin­ing mem­or­ab­il­ia museum which Wel­ling­tonista fam­il­ies swear is haunted.

Well worth a look any­way. And the museum is free.
