A ginger latte, other Eva-Leeds tipples and Caffeination
Six Barrel Soda is a semi-regular stop and there I recently found a ginger latte (their ginger syrup with hot latte milk), with or without a shot of coffee. You probably do have to be a ginger fan, but it was rather delicious and autumnal. I also spied a new rhubarb syrup and then after I left, looked back and saw what looks like verandah space being
developed. Perhaps something indoor/outdoor coming…?
Proceeding down the alley, the Wellington Chocolate Factory are doing specialty hot chocolates with whatever single origin chocolate is being tempered that day, mixed with a little milk. Given they have many single origin cacao beans (Trinidad and Tobago, Peru, Dominican Republic to name a few) there’s a good few days (weeks?) of tasting pleasure to be had (purely in the interests of developing one’s palate of course).
And following that, a craft beer at Goldings to wile away some weekend afternoon rain (and maybe some Pomodoro pizza to soak up all this tippling) and as a finale if not yet sloshing, a coffee from Red Rabbit Roastery (with a compulsory salted caramel cookie for dessert).
A whole degustation experience within 50m in the Eva-Leeds lane.
My crystal ball predicts craft beer chocolates from WCF being sold at Goldings sometime in the near future and maybe Fix and Fogg making an appearance in the lane as well (other than via WCF as currently).
Also watch out for the Caffeination NZ Festival of coffee next weekend at Shed 6 incorporating the NZ Barista Champs. 22 and 23 March. Follow the aroma.
