1. Might be a lit­tle dat­ed, but some great views of the City…

   1. Inter­est­ing­ly, the Nether­world Danc­ing Toys were from Dunedin and real­ly proud of the fact, espe­cial­ly because they were pur­vey­ors of a more cheer­ful, less intro­spec­tive sound than the typ­i­cal Dunedin mopey-arse sound.

3. “Har­bour City you’re a friend of mine” that Rob Winch wrote for Radio Windy orig­i­nal­ly and has been re-record­ed by Gina Mills is the great­est. It is now the theme song of the Breeze and cap­tures the essence of this city.

5. I first heard Tom­my Ill when he per­formed at Tiger Trans­late last year. I just stum­bled into the back-to-front Opera House and saw this dope MC wear­ing a fuzzy ani­mal thing on his head, throw­ing down from fresh rhymes mixed up with ’60s bub­blegum pop, and I was like “Who is this guy?”

   Back at home, I googled my arse off, and final­ly dis­cov­ered it was Mr Tom­my Ill, who is bet­ter known amongst my geek pals at The Guy Who Used To Have A Blog On Stuff. I did that he has the same sort of voice/face dif­fer­ence as the Rhythm Slave — nice boy face, grunty man voice.

   Any­way, here’s “Come Home Mr. Ill”, a song that did some hard yards as my aur­al metham­phet­a­mine, pick­ing me up when work was bring­ing me down last year.
