People often come to DCM because they have run out of money and can’t buy food.

But that’s not the start or the finish, when a person visits DCM for help they look at the underlying reasons that have brought them to the Foodbank. So instead of just being the net at the bottom of the cliff they can see how in other ways they can help.

Because DCM depends entirely on donations from the public to assist people in this way, they hold two Foodbank Appeals per year – and the next, to stock shelves ahead of winter, will be this Saturday, 17 May.

DCM volunteers will be stationed at

New World Newtown (9am-7pm)

New World Chaffers (9:30am-7:30pm)

New World Metro (9:45am-5:45pm) to collect donations.

Here’s the list the wonderful DCM volunteers will be handing out to shoppers on Saturday, so if you can donate this weekend maybe you can buy some of these things another time and drop them in at DCM HQ Compassion House, 2 Lukes Lane.

Plan to spend up large on books at this year’s Bookfair
16 – 17 August 2014
TSB Bank Arena
Saturday 9am – 5pm
Sunday 10am – 4pm

Or maybe give the gift of your time just email office@dcm.org.nz and offer your time
Volunteers are always needed before and during bookfair – maybe you have an amazing knowledge of a specific genre of book and can help price books fairly, maybe you have strong arms and can help pack books, and especially during bookfair maybe you can keep the book tables stocked, and sell books.
