Witch, jungle child, bewildered student, detective, librarian, shark: iconic writer Margaret Mahy defied the norm at every turn, embodying aspects of her characters in the many lives she lived. Jane Waddell’s stage adaptation of Mahy’s essay ‘Notes of a Bag Lady‘ reveals the woman behind the stories: her witchy ways, her bag-lady tendencies and her never-ending search for adventure.

Directed by Stella Reid, produced by Claire O’Loughlin, designed by Lucas Neal, Marcus McShane and Sophie Sargent, I am not Margaret Mahy is a reminder to us all that you can grow old, but you don’t need to grow up.

Please note: I Am Not Margaret Mahy is appropriate for adults and young adults, but is not a children’s show.
