Peo­ple often come to DCM because they have run out of mon­ey and can’t buy food.

But that’s not the start or the fin­ish, when a per­son vis­its DCM for help they look at the under­ly­ing rea­sons that have brought them to the Food­bank. So instead of just being the net at the bot­tom of the cliff they can see how in oth­er ways they can help.

Because DCM depends entire­ly on dona­tions from the pub­lic to assist peo­ple in this way, they hold two Food­bank Appeals per year — and the next, to stock shelves ahead of win­ter, will be this Sat­ur­day, 17 May.

New World New­town (9am-7pm)

New World Chaf­fers (9:30am‑7:30pm)

New World Metro (9:45am‑5:45pm) to col­lect dona­tions.

Here’s the list the won­der­ful DCM vol­un­teers will be hand­ing out to shop­pers on Sat­ur­day, so if you can donate this week­end maybe you can buy some of these things anoth­er time and drop them in at DCM HQ Com­pas­sion House, 2 Lukes Lane.

Vol­un­teers are always need­ed before and dur­ing book­fair — maybe you have an amaz­ing knowl­edge of a spe­cif­ic genre of book and can help price books fair­ly, maybe you have strong arms and can help pack books, and espe­cial­ly dur­ing book­fair maybe you can keep the book tables stocked, and sell books.
