1. Who are you and what do you want?

I’m Tane Woodley, Green party candidate for Ohariu. I want a pint of chocolate porter. Also, a fairer society, a cleaner environment and a smarter economy.

  1. What makes you different?

I’m a human, that makes me different to everyone. I am a soldier in the Greens, so I am fairly rare; green on the inside and green on the outside.

  1. What do you love or hate most about Wellington

I love Wellington on a good day, it really is as good as advertised, possibly better. I hate the spring winds that kill my plum blossoms and tomato plants.

Gain votes to get Green MPs to help change the government and implement our WOF policy for rentals, more home insulation and greater security of tenancy for tenants.

More research and development, more manufacturing to add value to products, cleaner environment to make “100% Pure” a real thing and marketing advantage, reducing emissions and rising wages.

We have a wealth gap after 30 years of neoliberalism. More taxation on the wealthy leaves them still wealthy, but gives everyone else more opportunity to participate meaningfully in society.

Gain votes to get…. seriously, I’m not being flippant, but we have a lot of good, solid policies that will help vulnerable children. Winning votes will make this happen.

Green investment in research and development, in ICT and in renewable energy will help businesses to develop new products and services to sell, also to retain staff and grow.

10. What do you wish your 17 year old self knew about feminism? @zenpeacekeeper

That feminism is a more real and valid thing than I gave it credit for. That ‘equal pay for women’ was a good start, but it was only a start.

I would implement single-transferable voting for electorate votes, so we have real contests for electorates. To encourage participation, I’d increase resources for the Electoral Commission to better educate and market.

12. Will you support a full enquiry into #DirtyPolitics? Will they practice clean politics for  themselves and their parties? – BevanMcCabe

Not an inquiry, but a Royal Commission is needed, to fully investigate and to ensure the government of the day doesn’t interfere.  Will I support this?  Hell yeah!

13. What’s your personal history of living in Wellington?

Grew up in the Hutt, bloody wonderful place. Left for the Army at 18, posted to Trentham from 1996-8, then lived in Miramar and Johnsonville since 2003.

14. What policy of your party do you think will have the most impact on Wellington?

Our climate change policy, and subsequent emission reduction. Because worsening weather and sea level rise will devastate Wellington. Emission reductions in NZ, combined with international efforts, will greatly benefit Wellington.

15. Do you genuinely believe you have a chance at winning the seat you’re contesting, or is this more of a party campaign?

Most definitely a party campaign.  As an MMP party, the Greens focus on the party vote, and the electorate vote is not something we chase. So please, party vote Green…
