This is a some­what ran­dom roundup of press releases that caught my eye.

Octo­ber 25 (that’s tomor­row) sees Power­tool Records present Bul­leth­oles 4: Explor­ing the Unknown – the New Zea­l­and road­show at Bar Medusa. I don’t actu­ally know any of the bands fea­tur­ing, nor can I testi­fy to how the album sounds, but nine years ago (golly!) I thought I was in love with one of the boys fea­tured on the first Bul­leth­oles com­pil­a­tion, so they get a plug here and now.

Novem­ber 2 sees Dia de los Muer­tos – the Day of the Dead cel­eb­ra­tion hap­pen­ing at La Boca Loca. I read enough tumblr to feel uncom­fort­able when people (espe­cially fash­ion magazines) get all cul­tur­al-appro­pri­ationy, but this sounds pretty true to the day:

“Fri­day 2 Novem­ber is the Dia de los Muer­tos – the Day of the Dead, tra­di­tion­ally cel­eb­rated in Mex­ico by gath­er­ings of friends and fam­ily to remem­ber and hon­our loved ones who have passed on.

At La Boca Loca, we choose to hon­our and remem­ber our loved ones by savor­ing life, cel­eb­rat­ing good food & drink and enjoy­ing the com­pany of loved ones who are still with us.

So we’ll be cel­eb­rat­ing the Day of the Dead on Fri­day 2 Novem­ber from 6.30pm til late with a party. A time to enjoy good food, good com­pany, good music, and good times.”

Decem­ber 15 will see Shirtstock hap­pen at Wel­ling­ton High School.

ShirtStock 2012 is going to be the first annu­al cel­eb­ra­tion of the most influ­en­tial gar­ment of mod­ern times- the Tee Shirt.
With a wide range of labels on show and for sale, com­pet­i­tions for best designs across sev­er­al cat­egor­ies, print­ing exhib­i­tions and a peoples [sic] choice award Shirtstock will be a fant­ast­ic addi­tion to Wellington’s cul­tur­al cal­en­dar.

Stalls to sell your own tshirts at Shirtstock will be $35 and you can get more inform­a­tion by email­ing info@shirtstock.co.nz. The Wel­ling­tonista recom­mends that you only wear con­tent on your t‑shirts that you can say at least three things about, wheth­er that be actu­ally nam­ing songs by a band, know­ing a little bio­graph­ic­al inform­a­tion about revolutionaries/terrorists depic­ted, or actu­ally hav­ing atten­ded the event it pro­motes.
