So I’m going to declare right up front that I work for Zest Food Tours of New Zealand before I con­grat­u­late them on 10 years of suc­cess this month.  No mean feat in the some­times-fick­le tourism/hospitality indus­try.

And rat­ed one of the world’s top 10 Walk­ing Tours for Glo­be­trot­ting Food­ies by Lone­ly Plan­et this year.  Way to go Zest!

Cath and Sue start­ed Zest in 2003 when real­is­ing vis­i­tors to the city (pre­dom­i­nant­ly the new cruise vari­ety) were lim­it­ed to stan­dard offer­ings like the Cable Car, Mt Vic­to­ria look­out, Botan­i­cal Gar­dens and Par­lia­ment (pret­ty much).

What bet­ter way to give vis­i­tors a taste of Welling­ton’s fab­u­lous food, cof­fee, charm and cul­ture than walk­ing food tours they thought? (and yes, it does mean the calo­ries inhaled go right out through the feet again!).

And ten years on, Zest now oper­ates in Mar­t­in­bor­ough (and no, we won’t make you walk to get there!), Dunedin, Pon­son­by and Auck­land City, with a range of lan­guage skills and fas­ci­nat­ing back­grounds across the guid­ing group.

As well as vis­i­tors to the city, Zest pro­vides offer­ings for cor­po­rate events, Christ­mas events, con­fer­ence groups, behind-the-scenes Welling­ton on a Plate events, hens par­ties and more (cup-cake dec­o­rat­ing com­pe­ti­tion any­one?).  Just ask.
