i was a little suspicious as well…

i think you should get the ombudsmen to investigate hadyn.

he was in charge of the stats, after all.

i love that people think we are evil enough to rig votes, but so dumb that events, shops or blogs related to some of us (craft2.0, Wanda Harland, the Dropkicks) didn’t win.

I mean people if we were going to be evil we would have done a whole pile better than that.

The votes were tallied by the survey software, outputted to a CSV file which was then analysed by me in excel before being sent to an independent source for verification.

But thanks for involving us in your weird conspiracy theories.

The survey software counted the votes, as far as I know.

I wonder who left anonymous comments questioning our integrity. Coincidence? I think not.

“I’ll bet you’ve even been to that one downstairs where the spacies parlour was, under The Lab (deceased).”

Actually, I’m a little out of date, and there are a couple of places that have changed hands and where I haven’t gone to the renamed one yet. I went to the old Lab Underground (and yes, it was scary as hell) but haven’t been to its replacement; and I haven’t visited I-95 yet. But then again, I haven’t made it an explicit challenge to myself this year.

In my case, for example, I could only vote for one of the Wellington bars that I’ve actually been to. Which is all of them.

Ha ha ha.. I was all, “Oh, you…” then I realised that you are telling the truth.

Cripes.

I’ll bet you’ve even been to that one downstairs where the spacies parlour was, under The Lab (deceased).

hah i’m not the Anonymous with the voting conspiracy theory, (although the tone of the denials reeks of something else)…
my disbelief about Mighty Mighty winning stems purely from the terrible music, terrible sound system & very average surroundings…. but hey, these awards were held there so it must get support from a lot of people who read this & would vote for only what they know…
baaaa

I wonder who counted the votes. The gig was held by Mighty Mighty, best venue and best hospo won by the same…coincidence? I think not

Oh please, we all have better things to do with our time than rig votes! People voted for who they voted for end of story.
Some people may have taken more of an interest in promoting themselves than others but more power to them if they managed to mobilise their friends/admirers to actually vote.

Can’t say I’ve ever come across that problem. The only thing I can suggest is that either (a) you look like a shoplifter, or (b) they fancy you.

Can’t agree with unity winning the best book shop. every time i go in there, i am always followed by one of the staff. or if i’m browsing through books in a particular section, a section near me suddenly needs attention. which would be alright, if they didn’t keep glancing at me while they were cleaning

Are you still basing it on one night? Maybe it’s just me, but a rare gig from Blam Blam Blam doesn’t sound like “terrible music”; the sound system depends upon the act playing; and the surroundings, while not to everyone’s taste, is anything but “average”.

“it must get support from a lot of people who read this & would vote for only what they know…

I suppose so. In my case, for example, I could only vote for one of the Wellington bars that I’ve actually been to. Which is all of them. I’d be interested to know which places you’d consider paragons of a late night out.

So apparently something happened at 00:00:01 on 01/01/2000 which forever changed the standard of breakfast in Wellington.

Uh.

What was that, then. What happened?

Che Tibby December 8, 2007 at 7:50 am

don’t fret, i sure as hell didn’t vote for them.

i’ve had some of the rudest service in wellington in there too.

but, it obviously remains popular!

The breakfast at epic isn’t very good, in fact its pretty ’90s. It seems weird to me that they were even nominated considering how many good breakfasts there are to be had in welly.

man I’m a spoil sport.

Che Tibby December 10, 2007 at 7:01 pm

slowness… that’s exactly the issue.
i said, “umm… hi. my food has been a really, really long time?”

waiter, “our food always takes at least half hour [you dick]”

me, [wtf?! you could have told me before i ordered...].

but then i was recently back from melbourne, where the customer actually matters.

I’ve never had rude service there, and I’ve been dozens of times. They can indeed be pretty damn slow at times, especially when they’re busy, but hey: if you’re in a hurry go to McDonald’s.

As for their food, it’s not the most subtle or innovative I’ve ever had, but if you’re after an artery-clogging feast to beat your hangover into submission, their El Rancho and Deluxe D.O.G.G. are tastier than your average Big Brekkie and always hit the spot.

How were the Blams?

Reply

twelve-plus-one December 7, 2007 at 7:44 pm

The Blams were completely great. Tight as a drum. Well-rehearsed, at ease and just there.
And they played Doctor Who!

Reply

Tom December 7, 2007 at 2:26 pm

It was Satay Kingdom that won the cheap eats.

Reply

Che Tibby December 7, 2007 at 1:16 pm

well, i know that K&C cafe wons best cheap eats, and matterhorn won best un-cheap eats.

the rest is actually a bit of a blur…
