Sky Dancer in the Capital E National Arts Festival
We’re grownups at the Wellingtonista, well, unless there’s a fart joke to be made, so when there’s a National Arts Festival for Children, we thought it would be good to get some children involved, so here are three reviews of Sky Dancer.
Henry, age 11:
“Sky Dancer was not like anything I have seen before. It was surprising how the orchestra could tell a story through sounds. The drums were amazing, just like thunder. The puppets and movies helped us understand what was happening. We saw the writer there. Now I want to read the whole story! (Ed: Sky Dancer by Witi Ihimaera)“
Bella, age 8:
“The birds were awesome! Puppets and people!”
Finn, age 9:
“I went to the Sky Dancer show. The show was about two teams of birds that were fighting each other. Then a girl came and brought peace. The lighting was exceptional and the puppet work was done well too. I thought the show was quite loud but the music did tell the story well.”
Sky Dancer has a public show on March 15 at 6pm. We recommend getting tickets straight from Capital E to save on Ticketek fees.
