Today is World Refugee Day
Many things are going on but for the coffee obsessed why not grab an extra coffee today at the Peoples Coffee cafe in Newtown. They’ll be donating all of the proceeds from the cafe today to MCLaSS – (Multi-Cultural Learning & Support Services). MCLaSS offers free education and support for adult refugees and migrants through beginner ESOL literacy courses, job brokering, career coaching and English skills assessment.

“World Refugee Day on Friday 20 June comes against a backdrop of ongoing crises in Syria, South Sudan, Central African Republic and now Iraq. More than 2.8 million people have so far fled Syria alone, and worldwide, eight people are forced to flee their homes every minute to escape conflict or persecution.”
