1. Can’t say I’ve ever come across that prob­lem. The only thing I can sug­gest is that either (a) you look like a shoplifter, or (b) they fan­cy you.

Can’t agree with uni­ty win­ning the best book shop. every time i go in there, i am always fol­lowed by one of the staff. or if i’m brows­ing through books in a par­tic­u­lar sec­tion, a sec­tion near me sud­den­ly needs atten­tion. which would be alright, if they did­n’t keep glanc­ing at me while they were clean­ing

3. The votes were tal­lied by the sur­vey soft­ware, out­putted to a CSV file which was then analysed by me in excel before being sent to an inde­pen­dent source for ver­i­fi­ca­tion.

   But thanks for involv­ing us in your weird con­spir­a­cy the­o­ries.

4. The sur­vey soft­ware count­ed the votes, as far as I know.

   I won­der who left anony­mous com­ments ques­tion­ing our integri­ty. Coin­ci­dence? I think not.

   Actu­al­ly, I’m a lit­tle out of date, and there are a cou­ple of places that have changed hands and where I haven’t gone to the renamed one yet. I went to the old Lab Under­ground (and yes, it was scary as hell) but haven’t been to its replace­ment; and I haven’t vis­it­ed I‑95 yet. But then again, I haven’t made it an explic­it chal­lenge to myself this year.

6. In my case, for exam­ple, I could only vote for one of the Welling­ton bars that I’ve actu­al­ly been to. Which is all of them.

   Ha ha ha.. I was all, “Oh, you…” then I realised that you are telling the truth.

7. hah i’m not the Anony­mous with the vot­ing con­spir­a­cy the­o­ry, (although the tone of the denials reeks of some­thing else)…
   my dis­be­lief about Mighty Mighty win­ning stems pure­ly from the ter­ri­ble music, ter­ri­ble sound sys­tem & very aver­age sur­round­ings.… but hey, these awards were held there so it must get sup­port from a lot of peo­ple who read this & would vote for only what they know…

8. I won­der who count­ed the votes. The gig was held by Mighty Mighty, best venue and best hospo won by the same…coincidence? I think not

9. Oh please, we all have bet­ter things to do with our time than rig votes! Peo­ple vot­ed for who they vot­ed for end of sto­ry.
   Some peo­ple may have tak­en more of an inter­est in pro­mot­ing them­selves than oth­ers but more pow­er to them if they man­aged to mobilise their friends/admirers to actu­al­ly vote.

10. Are you still bas­ing it on one night? Maybe it’s just me, but a rare gig from Blam Blam Blam does­n’t sound like “ter­ri­ble music”; the sound sys­tem depends upon the act play­ing; and the sur­round­ings, while not to every­one’s taste, is any­thing but “aver­age”.

12. i love that peo­ple think we are evil enough to rig votes, but so dumb that events, shops or blogs relat­ed to some of us (craft2.0, Wan­da Har­land, the Drop­kicks) did­n’t win.

    I mean peo­ple if we were going to be evil we would have done a whole pile bet­ter than that.
