Next Monday (20 August) a group of Wellington performers will be getting together to raise funds for The Court Theatre in Christchurch. Badly affected by the earthquakes (forced to abandon thirty-five years of sets, costumes, and scripts) The Court Theatre has opened again in a new venue affectionately called ‘the Shed’. They have a space but they still need funds.

After a highly successful Benefit for Christchurch performance, which raised over $8,000 for Red Cross Appeal in March 2011, a dazzling variety show of music, comedy and dance is  back at Circa Theatre Wellington for one night only!

The show will feature Vance Fontaine and his Peculiar Sensations, The Improvisors/WIT, comedian Jerome Chandrahasen, Hobnail, Mrs. Robinson, The Good Words, can-can troupe Les Folies de Lamour, burlesque dancers, Julie O’Brien singing from Hairspray, Whitireia Performing Arts Students and many more!

“The generosity of Wellington’s performers and their audience was so amazing last year that we felt we had to do something again,” says benefit organizer Greg Ellis. “It was such an amazing way for performers to celebrate Monday night, which is traditionally our night off, and give something back. We’re hoping Wellington will get behind the event again.”

If you want to help out in some other way or have some ideas to bring in some more cash or support – email Enquires@theimprovisors.co.nz or nzactorsguild@gmail.com

Tickets are $30 and the proceeds are going directly to The Court Theatre Trust.
