Next Mon­day (20 August) a group of Welling­ton per­form­ers will be get­ting togeth­er to raise funds for The Court The­atre in Christchurch. Bad­ly affect­ed by the earth­quakes (forced to aban­don thir­ty-five years of sets, cos­tumes, and scripts) The Court The­atre has opened again in a new venue affec­tion­ate­ly called ‘the Shed’. They have a space but they still need funds.

After a high­ly suc­cess­ful Ben­e­fit for Christchurch per­for­mance, which raised over $8,000 for Red Cross Appeal in March 2011, a daz­zling vari­ety show of music, com­e­dy and dance is  back at Cir­ca The­atre Welling­ton for one night only!

The show will fea­ture Vance Fontaine and his Pecu­liar Sen­sa­tions, The Improvisors/WIT, come­di­an Jerome Chan­dra­hasen, Hob­nail, Mrs. Robin­son, The Good Words, can-can troupe Les Folies de Lam­our, bur­lesque dancers, Julie O’Brien singing from Hair­spray, Whitireia Per­form­ing Arts Stu­dents and many more!

“The gen­eros­i­ty of Wellington’s per­form­ers and their audi­ence was so amaz­ing last year that we felt we had to do some­thing again,” says ben­e­fit orga­niz­er Greg Ellis. “It was such an amaz­ing way for per­form­ers to cel­e­brate Mon­day night, which is tra­di­tion­al­ly our night off, and give some­thing back. We’re hop­ing Welling­ton will get behind the event again.”
