Next Monday (20 August) a group of Wel­ling­ton per­formers will be get­ting togeth­er to raise funds for The Court Theatre in Christ­ch­urch. Badly affected by the earth­quakes (forced to aban­don thirty-five years of sets, cos­tumes, and scripts) The Court Theatre has opened again in a new ven­ue affec­tion­ately called ‘the Shed’. They have a space but they still need funds.

After a highly suc­cess­ful Bene­fit for Christ­ch­urch per­form­ance, which raised over $8,000 for Red Cross Appeal in March 2011, a dazzling vari­ety show of music, com­edy and dance is  back at Circa Theatre Wel­ling­ton for one night only!

The show will fea­ture Vance Fon­taine and his Pecu­li­ar Sen­sa­tions, The Improvisors/WIT, comedi­an Jerome Chandra­hasen, Hob­nail, Mrs. Robin­son, The Good Words, can-can troupe Les Fol­ies de Lam­our, bur­lesque dan­cers, Julie O’Bri­en singing from Hair­spray, Whitireia Per­form­ing Arts Stu­dents and many more!

“The gen­er­os­ity of Wellington’s per­formers and their audi­ence was so amaz­ing last year that we felt we had to do some­thing again,” says bene­fit organ­izer Greg Ellis. “It was such an amaz­ing way for per­formers to cel­eb­rate Monday night, which is tra­di­tion­ally our night off, and give some­thing back. We’re hop­ing Wel­ling­ton will get behind the event again.”
