So we had some awards

In fact some of us right now are celebrating those awards, at the most lovely of locations, the Mighty Mighty.

But if you were unable to make it to the TAWAS here’s how you all voted.

Expect a review of the night later on tomorrow, and by later on I mean after afternoon tea.

For right now many of the wellingtonista are shaking their thing to the sounds of the Klezmer Rebs.

Also hopefully Hadyn who is the king of stats will offer up some analysis of the way you voted.

And if you havn’t already why not head over to the DCM and give a little. As I write at this very moment $10 has been donated to DCM. If everyone who reads this blog dontated $5 each, together  we will  make a serious difference in the lives of Wellingtonians who are most at risk and in need this Christmas.

More exciting stuff to do with #T4WA

Holy crapsticks, there’s less than a week to go until the Fourth Annual Wellingtonista Awards! You already know, of course, that you need to vote before December 15, and that the doors to the Awards Ceremony open at 6.30pm on December 17 at Mighty Mighty. We’ve told you about the Klezmer Rebs who are playing, but we haven’t mentioned that there’ll be a secret musical interlude. And we also haven’t told you about the awesome spot prizes we have to give away on the night, so let’s do that now:

Tickets are just $10 on the door, and we can promise you that it will be a rollickingly good time, so you’re coming along, right?

Vote for the T4WAs!

In the last month or so we’ve collected nominations for the various categories in the Fourth Annual Wellingtonista Awards; we’ve written them all up for you to read; we’ve handed out certificates to (most of) the nominees (if you’ve been nominated and haven’t got yours yet, hold tight, I’ve been somewhat occupied elsewhere — Jo); and we’ve generally been living in anticipation of This Very Moment.

For now… [drum roll please] …it is your turn.

You need to vote, in each of the categories, for whom you think should win one of the coveted T4WAs.

And you need to do that, right here, right now. But only one completed survey per person, please!

VOTE HERE (Voting has closed).

Voting is open from now through to midday on December 15th. And once you’ve voted, you should clear a space in your calendar for the Awards Ceremony, which will be at Mighty Mighty on December 17th (Add the event on Facebook if you roll that way). The awards presentation should be happening around 7.30pm, and then at 9.30pm we are very excited to have the Klezmer Rebs playing tunes for us all to shake our tuchasses to!

Lastly, in case you need to check back on the details of some of the category nominees, here’s each posting:

It doesn’t matter how good the food is at a restaurant or how comfortable a bar’s stools are if the staff scowl at you and dump your order down grumpily in front of you. What makes us loyal customers is the interaction with the people on the other side of the customer, and these men and women are the shining stars in their field. Being served by them really does make the day better.

Wellington is made up of lots of private spaces, but it’s the public spaces that really bring the city to life. These are the places that you’ll find us loitering in.

Although we might not always celebrate them as much as we would a new bar or great restaurant, we know that there are times when you need to get out and do things that don’t revolve entirely around a drink. These are the places we like to head at those times.

There are things that happen in Wellington that make us break out the big thick permanent markers to circle those dates on the calendar, and these are the pick of those events.

Ah consumerism, we worship at your temple and wish to subscribe to your newsletter. These are the places in town that we happily spend our hard-earned dollars in.

Sure, the city centre is hip and happening, but sometimes it’s fun to take a trip out to the suburbs — well, as long as you’re visiting one of these places anyway!
