My predictions for Wellington on a Plate 2018

Tomorrow is my favourite launch of the year – the Wellington on a Plate programme. In advance, and without having looked at their website, here’s what I think it will include (or not) so we can look tomorrow and see if I was right or wrong. There’s always a trending meat (wow is that a […]

Our advice for Wellington on a Plate 2015

Tomorrow begins that most magical time of the year. The stupid film festival has released my friends from its evil clutches and it’s time to eat, eat, eat. We’ve been covering Wellington on a Plate for a  long time now and I think we’re getting pretty good at knowing what’s what. So here’s our thoughts. […]

The Plates of Wellington on a Plate

Wellington on a Plate starts today, hurray! You will no doubt be hearing more from us on this subject, so let’s kick off our coverage with an event that caters to every palate and every dietary requirement. Oh, and did we mention it’s free? Wellington Plates is an exhibition of ceramic tableware served up as hot […]

What to eat during Wellington on a Plate

We didn’t present you with suggestions for events to book, I know. That’s partly because they all sell out so quickly, but mostly because I think the Dine menus are really the best opportunity to truly sample Wellington’s hospitality. So, with things kicking off tomorrow, and 108 options on offer, where should you go and […]

Wellington on a Plate is here again, hurrah!

Right now we’re knee-deep in delicious wine and food at the Wellington on a Plate launch at Prefab so if all’s going well, this post will go live right after the media embargo ends. For now, here’s what we’ve written about Wellington on a Plate over the past couple of years, and below is the […]

Wellington on a Plate so far

Wellington on a Plate opened on Friday. How’s it been for you so far? We’ve been trying to share people’s microreviews on Twitter, and of course @wellyonaplate will be even more informative,  but I thought I’d do some proper writeups for you about what I’ve been eating. So, in chronological order: Dine menu at The […]

Wellington on a plate on the web

floridita baked goodsWe’ve been particularly lax in not covering Wellington on a Plate, in my case because I am drastically short of funds and if I wrote about it I’d just get sad that I can’t eat every single thing on offer. But luckily, we can outsource the work to a third-world country instead. My favourite food blogger from Sydney – Helen at Grab Your Fork – has been in Wellington as a guest of Wellington Tourism, and she’s been doing some fantastic posts about what she’s been eating, along with taking some very tasty photos like the one at the right of the baking class at Floridita’s. You should check her out, and also check out the festival itself. If you’re short of a dining companion, feel free to extend an invitation to me…

Wellington on a delicious plate

It has been a couple of weeks now since the launch of the Visa Wellington on a Plate programme, and we have been very remiss in not telling you about it. Your credit card, however, will thank us, as many of the events are now sold out. The launch was held in Mojo’s roasting premises […]

Naked girls. Reading. In Wellington.

In advance of Naked Girls Reading; the motherhood edition this Saturday at the Fringe Bar, I put a few questions to its producer, Hugo Grrrl. Okay, first off. Naked girls reading – what in the heck is this? And who are you? Naked Girls Reading is exactly what it sounds like – it’s completely naked […]

So much on our plates!

There’s only three days left of Wellington on a Plate, but there’s still a vast array of festival dishes and burgers to choose from, so if you can face the combined WOAP and rugby crowds this weekend, here are some of our highlights. Five & Dime hide a surprisingly sophisticated kitchen behind their tiny bar, and their Dine […]
