So, what to do over the next couple of days? Do like we do, and do these things:
…paintings, weaving, sculpture, wood, silver, bone, gold, and greenstone carving, clay, Ta Moko or traditional tattoo with items ranging in price from $500 to $80,000.
I’m sure you know that the Wellingtonista is a big fan of the trolley buses, and thinks that everyone who bitches about the wires overhead being an eyesore is an idiot. You probably think that it’s because we’re dirty leftie greenies that we’re fond of the wires, but the truth is, we like them because it’s hilarious when they go down. Like this morning, watching a trolley-bus having to get shunted by another bus out of a major Hataitai intersection. And getting to ride on the other side of Courtenay Place around marooned buses. And seeing Willis St totally blocked up with the corpses of trolley buses left lifeless. Actually it was lovely to see how friendly all the traffic was, and how quickly police and other people in shiny coats were there to direct traffic and keep things running. Sometimes Wellington is a surprisingly well-oiled machine. The official word after the jump:
So we met, we bowled, great epic battles were fought, and drinking was the winner on the day. And also Xero. Here’s the league points so far.

Bowltron | 1 | 1 | 0 | 1 | 0 | 5 |

Team bowling scores are after the jump.
It gives us tremendous pleasure to announce the draw of our Bowling League. Brave (but foolish for thinking they could possibly beat us) teams from Xero, Silverstripe, Click Suite, Clemenger BBDO and the fantastically named Bowltron will be taking part and therefore get massive karma points.
Round 1 will be Tuesday 24th at 8pm at The Lanes on Wakefield St.
The rules on the night are as follows:
So if you booze up and roll like a god your team could come away with 6 points.
Expect to see many people at Clemenger crying on Wednesday morning after the Bowlingtonista give them the thrashing of their lives. Hurrah!
Wanting to stalk us this weekend, and/or find something for yourself to do? Here are our suggestions:
We are super pleased and excited to announce that the Wellingtonista Bowling League is officially a happening thing. Game nights will take place once a month until the round-robin is played out. The first night will be Tuesday 24 April at 8pm, so that we can all recover the next day.
There will be four people to a team, and your website/organisation may enter more than one team if you like. There will be a trophy. Register your team here in the comments, or email the.wellingtonista @ gmail.com before next Wednesday 18. We’ll be bowling at The Lanes on Wakefield St, and it’ll cost probably $10 per person per game. Plus the drinks you will want to buy us.
Please do participate. Or are you scared that we will KICK YOUR COLLECTIVE ASSES? Cos we totally will.
Remember when we asked you about what was filming that would involve a boy and a dog?
Turns out it was a New World ad. Of course. It’s making a big deal about how New Worlds are the only local supermarkets nationwide. Personally, I think the only big deal about something that a New World has done is give Maurice Bennett enough of an income to start Bennett’s Beer. But maybe that’s just me.
Fashionistas may be excited to know about the very temporary-looking Andrea Moore ‘workroom’ set up by the bus stop on Manners St, whose windows are promising 50-70% off. But those who recently bought a (gorgeous) Andrea Moore dress at full cost might not want to read this at all…
James, whilst walking through Cuba Mall with us all: “Hey, that bollard (covered in posters) looks just like our site!”.
Also, James gets super large bonus points for coming swimming tonight.
(And also: I heart Wellington.)
