Getting burgered at WOAP: The Greenman

As my first taste of Burger Wellington, I decided to check out The Greenman because I had errands in the area, and their offering sounded quite delicious:

Whiskey and Maple Lamb Burger

A Quick and Dirty Look at the Comedy Fest!

Ah, the NZ International Comedy Fest – remember when we last had one? Two years ago. However, it’s back, and we’re well into the three week programme now. If you’ve not gotten along to any shows yet, here are some highlights coming up in the next few days! Josh Davies – Look! I’m blind.  Nominated […]

Preview: Ubu sux

It’s citizen versus everything in this totally original, entirely reimagined adaptation of Alfred Jarry’s classic avant-garde satire Ubu Rex. Grotesque, ridiculous and deeply profound, this irreverent adaptation of Ubu Rex draws from a huge range of source material to amplify the messages from Jarry’s original narrative. The live show is multimedia in every respect, with […]

Review: Woop Balance meal

Remember when we reviewed My Food Bag a bunch of years ago? We got approached by another company, and offered one meal. Unfortunately, they sent us shrimp. Have I mentioned lately in every single food review that I’m allergic to shellfish? Luckily I found a taker to make the dinner instead. Thanks Megan, take it […]

Graze at the Portlander

A couple of weeks ago I was invited by the lovely people at the Portlander to head in one freezing evening, along with a number of Instagrammers, to feast on their new grazing concept. From our signature long bone OP rib-eye presented at your table, to our on the bone grass fed Sirloin dry aged in house […]

Chasing the Black Dog with beer

Last night we went to the opening of the new Black Dog brewery on Cuba Street, and, spoiler alert, it was bloody delightful. All pics were supplied by the publicist because if you follow us on Twitter, you’ll know I can’t photograph for shit. A confession: I had never been to the old Black Dog […]

Project Glow on the Runway

A few weeks ago we previewed the garments and accessories created for Project Glow, a fashion competition for reflective gear. Last Saturday evening we attended the Wellington show (the Auckland show is on Saturday 26th, tickets here). Right now it’s hard to compete with all those luscious burger photos here on The Wellingtonista, so we think we […]

Parking ourselves at the Park Hotel (and a giveaway)

About a month ago, we attended the opening of the Park Hotel where we ate amazing canapes from Sterling (which we have raved about before), and heard newly crowned mayor Justin Lester say that Wellington needs 1000 new hotel rooms to sustain growth (the Park Hotel has 137, fyi). We had a thoroughly excellent time, […]

After the quake

These are trying and chaotic times, but I hope everyone’s hanging in there. Social media means that there’s more information available than ever before, but also that there’s a lot of misinformation and confusion, so we thought we’d put up a quick post to help you find the most official sources. Civil Defence’s WREMO page and their […]

Dinner at Giddy-Up

The Wellingtonista got invited along to try out some of the dishes and have a beer at the Giddy-Up Mussel Bar, tucked away on Manners Street opposite Arty Bees bookshop. It sounded like a nice place to try out for a Friday evening dinner, so I took up the invitation and went there with my […]
